We may not be in Lexington, but I’m getting updates as if I am.  To help Planet debate & the3nr cover the weekend – we’ve put together a spreadsheet for the results.

We’ve done this in years past and been successful – hope people will be able to add in what they know.

Westminster wins the Policy TOC

Posted in 2009 TOC on May 4th, 2009 by jeffrey miller – 10 Comments

For the second time in school history (last was in 2005), Westminster Schools has won the TOC.  Anshu Sathian & Rajesh Jegadeesh dropped two ballots this year at the TOC – one in finals and one in quarters.

Anshu & Rajesh demonstrated pure excellence this year by winning the NDCA’s Baker Award for the best overall policy team.

As an Atlanta-based company, we’re very excited for the Westminster team and everyone involved.  We’d also like to extend a congratulations to Bellarmine who had a great run.

I’d also like to give a plug to the University of Michigan 7 Week Camps – all four students in the Final round attended the 7 week camps in Ann Arbor.

Westminster is coached by Jenny & David Heidt. They also were assisted by Casey Harrigan, Dylan Keenan, Hays Watson, and others this weekend.  Congratulations everyone involved!

Policy Semifinals

Posted in 2009 TOC on May 4th, 2009 by jeffrey miller – 5 Comments

Westminster JS vs. Damien EH
Kinkaid KS vs. Bellarmine VR

A private school will win the 2009 TOC.  Continuing the looooong streak, don’t worry public schools – next year is your year!

If Bellarmine and Damien both win their semifinal round, it will be the first time since 1999 GA, IL, or TX had not been in finals.

Kinkaid, Bellarmine, or Damien have never won the TOC. Damien won the NDCA Championships, so if they win the TOC – they would have a shot to win a triple crown (NDCA, TOC, NFL).

However, as an Atlanta-based website, we’re cheering for the rock chalk – Anshu & Rajesh. Go Westminster!

Since I’ve helped you, help one of my debaters?

Posted in 2009 TOC on May 4th, 2009 by jeffrey miller – Comments Off

While at the TOC, I just found out one of my debaters, Ben Battles, is trying to secure funds to go to SCAD. There is a $10,000 scholarship contest that he has entered. He has made a video and 20% of the scholarship decision depends on how many votes he gets. Let’s support this deserving student and help him achieve his dreams. It only takes a few seconds. You can vote once every 24 hours from each email address you have. Please vote for him!

Thanks!
